𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑! 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 2022 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕

Things are looking good after the 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞's first 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 of the semester, under the Italian Presidency, was fully dedicated to restorative justice.

The meeting concluded with the unanumous adoption of a new 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.

The goal of the declaration is 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 and to further implement its application by the Council of Europe Member States.

Marija Pejčinović Burić, 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞, mentioned the need for national authorities to make restorative justice available and accessible at all stages of the criminal justice system.
